A very young but very good Oskaloosa softball team took it to the Pella Christian girls last night, as the Indians swept a pair of games to begin the conference schedule. Oskaloosa won the first contest 11 – 1. Jaynee VandeWeerdhoff went 2-for-3 to lead the Eagles offensively, while Tessa Howerzyl scored Pella Christian’s only run. Game two was a tad closer but not by much, as Oskaloosa completed the sweep with an 8 – 3 final. VandeWeerdhof went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and an RBI, Abby Pleima and Howerzyl were each 1-for-3 with a run scored to highlight the nightcap for the Eagles, who drop to 3 – 2 – 1 on the season. Pella Christian will next play in a tournament in Oskaloosa this Saturday.
