“Knoxville: A Dam Good Time.” That was the theme revealed during Wednesday night’s RAGBRAI town hall meeting. Nearly 150 community members enthusiastically gathered to ask questions and hear additional information about the route and where riders will be stationed. The audience applauded several times, thanking the efforts of volunteers that set things up for the stretch run over the next couple months.
Riders will enter from the north on Highway 14. They’ll go around the Fairgrounds and have the chance to ride at the Knoxville Raceway before heading east on Rock Island. From there, they’ll head on south on Roche and west on Robinson before stopping near Marion County Park to camp.
Campgrounds will not only include Marion County Park, but also Knoxville Middle School, Knoxville High School, and the Knoxville Recreation Center. Shuttles will then take riders back downtown, where the entertainment, vendors, and beverage garden will be stationed.
June 14th is an important date regarding RAGBRAI. It’s the date the the City has said that vendor applications and advertising requests are due.
RAGBRAI organizers said that the day will be successful, citing successful events held in Knoxville in the past year, like Living Windows and the RVTV event. They stressed that in order to do it again, they needed volunteer help. You can find out more at the Knoxville RAGBRAI website .
