Only one half was able to be played due to the lightning and oncoming storms, but that’s all the Pella High girls’ soccer team needed to beat PCM, 6 – 0. Coach Mark Howard tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that he was all for playing the rest of the game, as a decision to mutually end it has to be and was agreed upon by the coaches and officials. Bri Schroder tallied a pair of goals and as assist on the day, with the other goals coming from Ashley Kirkland, Mallory Lynch, Gabi Meirick and Katie Canfield. The Lady Dutch also outshot the Mustangs 17 shots on goal to just two. Pella’s win improves their record to 16 – 1 while the loss ends the Mustangs’ girls’ season at 6 – 9. Pella will now enjoy a nice stretch of practice and rest before hosting Newton, who beat Grinnell 1 – 0 last night, on Monday in the Class 2A Regional Finals.
