With the grounds crews working extra hard the past 24 hours-plus to get their courses, if you excuse the pun, up to par, the American Legion Golf Course in Marshalltown plays host to the Class 1A state golf tournament involving Pleasantville today. The Trojans are led by Ashley Jahner and Hannah Gordon, who finished one-two at the regional tournament on the 20th. They will be joined in competition by Bishop Garrigan, the defending state champs, Gehlen Catholic, Corning, Grundy Center, HLV, Valley Community and New London. If either today or tomorrow’s action gets cancelled due to rain or unplayable conditions, the tournament becomes an 18 hole championship. Day one is a shotgun start scheduled to get going at noon today.
