Bussey’s baseball and softball teams are a combined 7 – 1 this season, and each will attempt to continue their great starts to the season tonight against Mormon Trail. Brittney Roby of the Sabers’ softball team is 10-for-14 to begin the year to lead her team in the hitting category, and currently is carrying a 3.50 ERA and a 3 – 1 record as the team’s only starter so far. Mormon Trail’s girls are 0 – 2 right now, most recently losing in a shootout with Seymour on Friday, 17 – 14. Twin Cedars’ boys are 4 – 0 and are ranked in the top ten of the most recent Class 1A poll, while the Saints have also looked strong to start, outscoring their first two opponents so far this season by a total of 24 – 6. Corey Harrell has been dangerous in the batter’s box for the Sabers, going 7-for-9 so far this year with two home runs and 11 RBIs through four games. The varsity games are scheduled to get going at around 8:00 p.m., with JV first playing at six.
