Getting behind 4 – 0 early to Chariton, the Pella High baseball team was again able to battle back, but fell just short of the Chargers, 7 – 5 on Saturday. Grant Judkins, a freshman, got the team on the board with a two-run blast in the fourth inning, but Chariton answered back with three in the fifth. Pella got those three runs back in the sixth with an RBI double off the bat of Matt Nieuwsma, and a two-run double by Greg Frommelt. Tanner Wood was saddled with the loss, despite striking out 11 batters and walking none. He gave up 11 hits in six innings of work. Pella is 0 – 3 to begin this season, and Coach Jesse Jablonski says he wants to see a better start to their next ballgame, which is a doubleheader at Centerville this Tuesday.
