Both PCM baseball and softball won their games over Heart of Iowa Conference foe, Colfax-Mingo on Friday. The Mustangs’ boys got out to a quick 6 – 0 lead, and turned it into an 11 – 2 thrashing. PCM collected 15 hits in the game, with Ethan Kain going 4-for-4 with three triples and four RBI’s, and Freshman Clay Cooper also had a three hit night for the Mustangs. Kain also earned the win on the mound, going six, allowing two unearned runs, three hits, and striking out eight. It was almost the same score on the softball diamond, with PCM coming out on top 11 – 1. Shelby Palm and Abbi Gilson each went 3-for-4, and one of Gilson’s hits was a home run. Payge Edwards also had three hits with a double, and got the win on the mound while striking out five. PCM baseball is 4 – 4 on the year and softball is 6 – 5; the Mustangs’ girls finish their busy week today with a tournament at Eddyville, while the boys are off until Monday to play at North Polk.
