The Knoxville Baseball Squad is following the same kind of week as the Panthers did last week. The Panthers’ only games were a double-header loss to Ames on Monday. Since then an off day on Tuesday, and a scheduled game with Des Moines Christian last night that was cancelled due to rain. Along with last night’s cancellation, the Panthers have also lost games against Bondurant-Farrar, Van Meter and Chariton all due to weather. Coach Joel Johnson wanted to start the season a little later in the first week, while he wishes that they could have played earlier the last week of May, he says the practice time was time well spent. Across Panther Drive, the Knoxville Softball Squad was supposed to host Oskaloosa in a varsity doubleheader to open the Little Hawkeye Conference season last night. Coach Steph Christner says for many teams the loss of games due to weather may be a hindrance, but for her team, practice is something that they need right now. Both Knoxville teams are off tonight, but right back at it tomorrow with trips to Newton. The Baseball game will be broadcast live on AM 1320 KNIA starting at 7:30.
