Traffic control issues aren’t very common with communities the size of Knoxville. But when around 25,000 people descend in the city on July 24th – on bicycles, no less – local law enforcement will be prepared.
Knoxville Police Lt. Aaron Fuller says their law enforcement committee has been meeting at least twice a month since Knoxville was announced as an overnight city. He says motorists will need to especially be aware of the route and how to avoid it if they’re commuting.
Fuller adds that 25 additional officers will be coming in to help with crowd control on the downtown square during the entertainment in the afternoon and evening. He asks residents have patience during the time RAGBRAI is in Knoxville in order to show the best side of the city.
