Neither Montezuma nor Sigourney could take down the giants of Twin Cedars in softball or baseball Thursday night. Sabers’ softball beat Montezuma, 11 – 1 in five innings. Twin Cedars collected nine hits as a team and were 5-for-11 at the plate with runners in scoring position. Brittney Roby, Payton Fee, Baiely Stone, Ayla Crosby and Shelby Hall all drove in at least one run in the contest. Meanwhile, Sabers’ baseball also ended things early with a 14 – 3 victory over Sigourney in five frames. Drew Carlson got the win on the mound, going the distance and striking out eight. Catcher Hunter Embray was 2-for-2 with a pair of RBI’s, and Corey Harrell was 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI’s. Sabers’ softball improves to 21 – 7, and the baseball team’s record balloons to 24 – 1. Each team will hit the road to face Seymour tonight.
