Add another pair of big quality wins to the résumé for the Pleasantville baseball team, as they were able to win a strange doubleheader on Tuesday night over the defending Class 1A champions, Martensdale-St. Mary’s. The Trojans and Blue Devils first completed a suspended game that was tied at two in the top of the eighth. Pleasantville plated a run and held on in the bottom half to win 3 – 2, and they used the momentum from that big win, and the bat of Josh Luna, to complete the “sweep” of Martensdale-St. Mary’s in the night capper, 3 – 2. Luna clobbered a three-run home run, which was just enough to back another strong pitching performance from Patrick Sheehey, who earned the win on the mound for game two. Luna technically earned a win after the suspended first game was completed. Pleasantville softball was not as fortunate in their game, but fought hard, losing in eight innings, 6 – 5. Trojans’ baseball is now 9 – 7, while the softball team drops to 3 – 16 – 1. Pleasantville is off today, and will head to Wayne for their next contest tomorrow night.
