Rain…Again Halts High School Softball This Time Knoxville vs. Pella Christian

Rain has been a thorn in the side of many softball teams this season, but none greater than Knoxville. The Panthers and Pella Christian were set to play a double header last night, when thunderstorms invaded the Knoxville area and turned the softball diamond into “Lake Panther.” The new date for the varsity twin bill will be July fifth. The official start time according to Knoxville Athletic Director Randy Wilson has yet to be finalized, but the time should be set by early next week. Meanwhile, the Panthers now turn their attention to the Oskaloosa Classic today. Knoxville will play class 4A number five Carlisle, and take on a Central Lee squad that has also dealt with the weather as the Hawks have only played eight games. After Wednesday’s loss to Pella, the Panther coaching staff decided to bring in a motivational speaker at practice on Thursday. Christner enlisted Knoxville’s Randy Wilson to talk to the girls about not just being the best in sports, but also in everything. She said it was nice to hear from someone that has been at the top of his game. Wilson qualified for the 1980 Olympic Games, and still holds records at the University of Oklahoma where he was a standout track and field athlete.
