PCM and Albia’s baseball squads will square off in the Class 2A district tournament tonight. PCM is entering with a record of 19 – 14 and had a first round bye. Their last game was last Wednesday, a contest they won 15 – 0 over Montezuma. Albia enters with a mark of 21 – 16, and they beat Davis County, 6 – 1 in the first round on Saturday. Though they are in Class 2A, Albia is one of only two schools to beat Twin Cedars this season, and it will be their offense that the Mustangs will have to contain, as the Blue Demons enter play with a team batting average of .333 and an on-base percentage of over .400. Coach Shaun Hudnut says tonight will all come down to making pitches when it counts and winning each frame. Tonight’s game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Albia.
