An important piece of Knoxville history returned home Thursday. The original Dixie Gebhardt Iowa State Flag was delivered to the Knoxville Public Library Thursday, where it will be on display until September 6th. The flag is on loan from the State Historical Museum. It’s the flag that Dixie Gebhardt created herself in the house just down the block from the Library. The City of Knoxville now owns that building; there will be an open house at the Gebhardt home while RAGBRAI stops in Knoxville next week. It’ll allow riders from across the state to explore an important part of Iowa’s history.
