You can measure growth of players in a season in many ways. Their average, points per game, strikeouts, walks, yardage, tackles, interceptions, etc. etc. For Pella Christian’s assistant baseball coach, Emery Stewart, he noticed a big change in his team’s attitude from the beginning of the season to their final game against Colfax-Mingo. Stewart says that some members of the team, when they got down early or made a mistake, their heads would go down collectively at the start of the year. In their final game against the Tiger-Hawks, with his team down one with the bases loaded and two outs, Coach Stewart said he still heard positives coming from that same group, and he’s extremely proud of that fact. Pella Christian finished the season with a mark of 14 – 17.
