In what could be a preview of the Class 2A district final, rivals Pella Christian and PCM will meet for a regular season contest tonight on the baseball diamond. The Eagles enter play with a 12 – 16 record, and were just swept by a surging Grinnell squad on Wednesday. Head coach, Nate Johnson, a former pitcher himself, says that for his team to be successful, it all starts with effective pitching. PCM has been hot of late, winners of six of their last eight contests, but did drop a game the other day to a very good North Polk team, 11 – 0. The Mustangs have had to play a lot of younger, inexperienced guys all season, and Coach Shaun Hudnut says that after taking their knocks, they have grown as varsity players and are playing stride-for-stride with some of their older, experienced teammates. PCM enters play at 18 – 12, and you can hear all of the action on the diamond between the Mustangs and the Eagles live on 92.1 KRLS and streamed live at KNIAKRLS.com, with Cory Houser on the call. Pregame coverage starts at 7:15 p.m. with first pitch scheduled for 7:30.
