The Knoxville City Council will consider turning a portion of Edward’s Park into a Girls’ Scout camp. Dick Reed, with the Park’s Commission, discussed the idea with the Council this week. City Manager Harold Stewart says the Council appears receptive toward the idea, but they must tackle some issues first. Stewart explains they need to make sure surrounding neighbors in that residential area know what’s going on and have a chance to voice their thoughts on the camp. They also need to work to find a way to make the park exclusive to girls’ scouts, despite it being public land. Stewart says that they’ll follow-up with those issues and the Council will discuss it further at a future meeting.
