Wednesday night, the Knoxville softball team notched its tenth victory of the season with a 7-4 decision at home against the Cardinal Comets. Freshman Emily Wallace struck out four batters, all looking, as she threw another complete game to record the win. Offensively, the five runs scored in the third inning by the Panthers were the difference, but insurance runs in the fourth and fifth innings sealed the deal, and gave Knoxville a 7-1 lead through five. Three runs in the sixth from Cardinal made it interesting, and even allowed the Comets to send the go-ahead run to the plate, but Wallace and her defense buckled down and stopped the road team’s rally. Knoxville is now 10-14 on the season with their next contest coming up Friday night when they host the Pella Christian Eagles.
