The Knoxville City Council will vote on exempting Veteran Service Organizations from an alcohol ordinance that keeps those under 21 years of age from entering bars. The VFW has acted as a restaurant for a number of years; after receiving a complaint, the Knoxville Police Department discovered the VFW qualifies as a bar under current standards. The Council vote will allow the VFW and similar organizations to have minors in their building. The exemption was asked for because of events like funerals, benefit meals, and more. The meeting starts at 6:15 at Knoxville City Hall Monday. You can hear it live on 1320 KNIA.
