Law enforcement officials in Marion County are very happy with how RAGBRAI went last week. Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada said only one accident was reported involving RAGBRAI during the event, and only two arrests were made last Wednesday. He tells KNIA/KRLS that traffic flowed smoothly and that the guests appeared to enjoy their time here. During RAGBRAI, Losada says they had 24 extra officers from ten outside agencies working nearly 242 hours total in addition to Knoxville officers. He explains that will be covered by the RAGBRAI fund.

Marion County Sheriff Jason Sandholdt also tells KNIA/KRLS that things went smoothly. The Sheriff’s Department helped control traffic in rural Marion County Wednesday and Thursday as cyclists wound through the county. Sandholdt says that motorists were patient and cyclists were happy with the time they spent in Marion County.
