PCM’s baseball and softball teams had two different outcomes last night. The baseball team lost in five innings, 11 – 0. North Polk scored three in each of the first three frames and added two in the fifth to end the evening early. The Mustangs could only crank out one hit, and that was off the bat of Zach Uhlenhopp. The Mustangs’ softball squad won in extra innings, 2 – 1. Abbi Gilson and Payge Edwards were 2-for-4 at the plate, and Molly Vignovich drove home the only two runs of the game for PCM, including the game-winner in the eighth. PCM baseball sits with a record now of 17 – 12, and the softball team finishes their regular season with a mark of 18 – 14. Mustangs’ baseball plays Pella Christian on Friday, and the girls will have nearly a week to prepare for Nevada this Tuesday in the first round of the Class 3A regional softball tournament.
