The first words in a text from Pella baseball coach, Jesse Jablonski were, “Won a wild one!” The Little Dutch beat Washington yesterday, 5 – 4 in nine innings. Pella was up 1 – 0 going into the seventh when the Demons tied it up in the top of the inning. Washington scored three in their half of the eighth only to have that matched by Pella, who scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth thanks to an RBI single by Ryan Shull. Austin Titman pitched seven innings and allowed one run and struck out 11 but didn’t factor into the decision. Shull pitched the last two innings to get the win. Grant Judkins had a double in the eighth frame to tie it up. Pella is now 11 – 15 on the year, and tonight they’ll head to Newton for a conference match-up. Coach Jablonski says that now that they know they’re going to play Norwalk in their first round game, his focus is on offense and rest. The Little Dutch skipper said he also would like to get his guys healthy for postseason play as much as possible in the coming weeks. You can hear tonight’s match-up with the Cardinals of Newton live on 92.1 KRLS and streamed live at KNIAKRLS.com with Cory Houser on the play-by-play. Pregame starts immediately following the Marion County PM Sports Page at around 7:15 p.m.
