Pella High’s softball team seems to be playing their best ball at the right time. They beat Oskaloosa by one run on Monday, defeated Knoxville on Thursday to advance to the Class 4A regional semifinals, and they’ll play that game tonight in Winterset against the Huskies. Winterset enters play with a 31 – 8 record, and are winners of five of their last six games. Runs look like they will come at a premium in tonight’s game; the Huskies have only allowed one opponent all season to score more than five runs against them and are expected to throw their senior ace, Karly Olson against the Lady Dutch. Pella will be countering with freshman Elyse Sadler, and Coach Krista DeMeuelenaere talked about the game plan for her young hurler against a dangerous Huskies line-up. You can hear tonight’s semifinal contest live on 92.1 KRLS and streamed live at KNIAKRLS.com with Cory Houser on the play-by-play. Pregame starts at 6:45 p.m. with first pitch scheduled for seven. Because of the postseason softball contest, live coverage of the races at the Knoxville Raceway will start on AM 1320 KNIA and will move to the FM side at the conclusion of the game.
