Both of Twin Cedars’ ball clubs can say they are Bluegrass Conference champions for 2013. The Twin Cedars’ softball team lost in eight innings to Murray, 6 – 5. Both teams ended up with the same conference record and will share the conference title. On the baseball diamond, it was a rare close game that the Sabers’ boys were involved in, but they came out on top, 6 – 3. Coy Moore got the win on the mound, going six-and-a-third and allowing three runs on eight hits. Otis Roby got the save by getting the final two outs of the game. Corey Harrell was 2-for-2 at the plate, with a double and two RBI’s, Moore was 1-for-3 and Brent Parker also drove in a pair of runs. The Twin Cedars’ baseball team is 29 – 1, and went a perfect 14 – 0 in the conference, and the softball team finishes the regular season with a mark of 23 – 8. The Sabers’ boys play at home against Montezuma on Monday, and the girls will open up their Class 1A regional tournament on Wednesday, playing the winner of the Melcher-Dallas vs. Moravia game which takes place on Monday.
