Brian Brown took home the $5,000 that came with winning the Front Row Challenge last night at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa. However, the story was NASCAR Nextel Cup Champion Tony Stewart who crashed while leading. According to AP reports, Stewart suffered a compound fracture of his lower right leg and underwent surgery last night. Another update is expected later today. Stewart grabbed the lead from Knoxville Driver Tasker Phillips on lap 22, however three laps later, a back marker spun in turn four and collected Stewart, Phillips and Knoxville’s Tony Shilling. After a lengthy cleanup, Brown inherited the lead and beat Kyle Larson to the line for the win. Kevin Swindell was third with Brandon Wimmer in fourth and Tony Bruce Jr completing the top five. Bruce took the front row challenge after Phillips, who started on the pole and turned it down. To entice Bruce to move to the back Promoter Terry McCarl offered him 85-dollars for every car he passed. The run through the field netted Bruce an extra $1,600, a new top wing and some tires. Tonight the action continues from the Southern Iowa Speedway as the wings come off for the USAC Ultimate Challenge.
