The Knoxville Public Library and the Knoxville Middle School are working together to start a new library program–loaning musical instruments to card holders in the Middle School band. Musical instruments are expensive, and sometimes beyond the household budget of families. To begin the program, the Library is requesting donations of instruments that may be sitting unused in closets. Instruments will then be refurbished and checked out to students. Middle School Band Teacher Tim McBride tells KNIA/KRLS News that he’s hopeful the program is successful because he would like to see musical instruments available to any student who wishes to play one. If you have a musical instrument you would like to donate, contact the Knoxville Public Library at 828-0585.
