Assistant coach, Emery Stewart noticed it from the dugout. Head coach, Nate Johnson saw it late in the season in the games he coached, too. The transformation of the attitude and especially the fight in the Pella Christian baseball team from the beginning of the season to the end was palpable. Johnson noticed it especially in some late come-from-behind wins towards the finale of their schedule.
“With the game at Newton, we came back late, I think we were down 6 – 2 in the last inning, and we came back to win it,” Johnson said. “We came back against Oskaloosa, we came back against Knoxville in a good battle, we almost came back against Norwalk. Just some games like that where we were down and we kept fighting and I saw that change in those guys so that was exciting to see.”
The Eagles finished fifth in the Little Hawkeye Conference, and ended the season winning nine of their last 15 games.
