It has been well documented this season that Pella’s baseball team had trouble with close games at the beginning of the season. In fact, the Little Dutch did not end up on the right side of a one-run game until their 15th game of the season, in a 5 – 4 win over Oskaloosa on June 19. Coach Jesse Jablonski says that though it took them that long to win a close game, the number of tight contests they were involved in helped them out in the long run. After they started the season 0 – 8 in one-run games, Pella finished the season with a record 7 – 11 in such contests. The Little Dutch ended the year at 15 – 19 overall.
