The latest USDA Drought Monitor shows that Marion County is now in a severe drought. All of Iowa is now being impacted by dry weather, with more than 60 percent of the state considered to be facing drought conditions. In Marion County this month, we’ve seen just 1.38 inches of rain. The normal amount is 4.48 inches. The National Weather Service says there is a 20-to-30 percent chance of rain this weekend, starting Friday night.
