It was a much needed “perfect” day on the volleyball courts for the Pella Christian girls on Saturday; winning all five of their matches to claim victory in the North Mahaska tournament. The Eagles started by beating North Mahaska, then conquered Lynnville-Sully in straight sets, 21 – 11 and 21 – 16. It took three games to beat H-L-V, but concluded the day with straight set wins over Sigourney-Keota and Little Hawkeye Conference foe Grinnell, 21 – 7 and 21 – 18, to finish the run through the gauntlet unscathed. Abby Pleima had six aces, Lauren Jungling had ten, Logan De Graaf registered 13 kills, and Alyssa Starkey came up with 42 digs over the course of the five matches. Coach Cindy Nikkel tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that it was their aggressive serving and blocking to go along with strong defense at the libero position that helped them succeed on Saturday. Pella Christian improves to 7 – 11, and they will host Oskaloosa on Tuesday in a Little Hawkeye Conference bout.
