PCM took control early on and never looked back as they sailed to a 40-3 win over Pella Christian Friday night. Pella Christian struggled offensively all night, especially with the passing game, with just 179 total yards, only 22 of which came through the air. Penalties and turnovers were the other big story as the Eagles were flagged 10 times for 85 yards and committed four turnovers. PCM’s Zach Uhlenhopp almost single handedly took down the Eagles with three interceptions and two touchdowns in the first 24 minutes. Pella Christian assistant coach Darryl DeRuiter said PCM deserves all the credit. Off to a hot start, PCM head coach, Greg Bonnett warns that his team’s week three opponent in West Marshall is not a team to take lightly. Mason Howerzyl led the Eagles ground game with 114 yards on 21 carries as Pella Christian fell to 1-1 and will host Central Decatur to start district play next week. PCM improves to 2 – 0 and they will host West Marshall.
