Offices, Banks Closed During Labor Day

Monday is Labor Day. It’s a holiday that’s meant to celebrate workers and the contributions they’ve made to the country; it’s also generally viewed as the end of the summer. The holiday was first celebrated in Oregon in 1887. It became a federal holiday in 1894. Since its a federal holiday, government offices, banks, post offices, and many stores are closed. Americans generally celebrate Labor Day with cookouts, and many people visit family.
