The Pella High volleyball team went 1 – 3 in Altoona on Saturday. Pella opened up by losing to Indianola in straight sets, 11 – 21 and 14 – 21, and dropping two straight games to Urbandale 6 – 21 and 18 – 21. It took three sets for Pella to defeat Des Moines East, 19 – 21, 21 – 6 and 15 – 2, and ended the night losing to Nevada in three, 9 – 25, 25 – 20 and 14 – 16. Coach Catie Brand tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that her girls started every match kind of slow but found ways to battle back to stay competitive. Brand also said that they were missing one of their middle players which may have messed with their rhythm. Pella is now 9 – 10 on the season, and will head to Dallas Center-Grimes for their second Little Hawkeye Conference match this season.
