Carlisle broke a 65-yard run on their opening possession to take an early 7-0 lead on Pella, but from there it was all Little Dutch as they cruised to a 44-7 Homecoming win. It was big play after big play for Pella throughout the first half including two touchdowns from Quinton Murphy, as well as touchdown runs by Nathan Henry and Lucas Steenhoek plus a field goal from Seth Johnson as Pella built a 31-7 halftime lead and didn’t look back from there. Coach Jay Mckinstrey said he was very pleased with the all-around play of his team, but called Murphy’s long run the play of the game. Murphy finished with 89 yards on just three carries, Steenhoek tallied 88 yards on three carries and Nathan Henry had 84 yards on seven carries as Pella rolled up 350 total yards, 329 of which came via the rushing attack. Pella improved to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in Class 3A District 8 and will travel to Chariton for another district match-up Friday night.
