A measure on the Knoxville School Board ballot asks residents to continue their help in funding physical improvements and improvements in equipment in the Knoxville School District. The 67-cent physical plant levy is up for renewal. Superintendent Dr. Randy Flack says that the levy is very important to the district. The funds collected can only be used for equipment and physical improvements. Dr. Flack explains that the levy provides funds for items including school buses, boilers, and even the one-to-one laptop program. He says that without the levy, they would have to use the general fund for the projects. Dr. Flack notes that that fund is already tight, and that would make some projects impossible to fulfill. He notes the levy has received terrific support from voters in the past, and he hopes it does again.
