A battle of teams undefeated in Class 2A District 6 play went the wrong way for the PCM Mustangs Friday night in Monroe. Homecoming may have been one distraction, and an early kickoff due to the threat of thunderstorms in the area may have also contributed, but Head Coach Greg Bonnett says he’ll take the blame for the 49-6 loss to the visiting Albia Blue Demons. The lone score for the home team came in the final minute of the first half when third string quarterback Zach Uhlenhopp switched positions and hit Dillon Bruxvoort for a 14-yard touchdown to pull the Mustangs within 21-6. However, that was as close as it’d get as Albia scored four unanswered times in the second half to secure the dominating 43 point victory. After the game, Coach Bonnett talked about the positive message he had for his players. Albia moves to 6-0 and 4-0 in the district. PCM falls to 3-3 officially, and 2-1 in district play. PCM now hits the road for back-to-back contests. First up is Clark of Osceola, followed by Davis County.
