Both the men’s and women’s soccer teams at Central had successful days on the pitch in Storm Lake, beating Buena Vista in their respective contests. The Dutch women set a regular season record for shutouts, with their ninth of the season in their defeat of the Beavers 7 – 0. Alayna Bailey scored a hat trick plus one, Emily Saville, Emily Benson and Rachel Schmidt all added goals as well. Sydney Lunardi and Savana Robinson faced a total of three shots in goal for Central, who improved to 10 – 4 – 2 and 2 – 2 – 1 in the conference with the win. On the men’s pitch, Central won 4 – 1; the Dutch got going early, with a goal by Dillon Thornbury less than four minutes into the match. Spencer Boeyink, Daniel Peacock and Kyle Maynard all found the back of the net as well. The Dutch men improve to 8 – 6 – 1 overall and 2 – 3 – 0 in the league. Each squad will play William Penn on Tuesday.
