Pella rode a three-touchdown first quarter to a 42 – 13 win over Chariton last night to move to 6 – 0 on the season. The rain stayed away all night, but the field was still a little slick, but that did not stop Pella from running all over the Chargers. Quarterback Noah Clayberg had three rushing touchdowns in the first half, Nathan Henry broke off a 47-yard run, and the Little Dutch added scores from Quinton Murphy and Austin Schulte to seal the deal and send everyone home early. Knowing they couldn’t take Chariton lightly, Coach Jay McKinstrey said his guys did what they had to do to get the job done last night. Henry finished the night as the leading rusher with 87 yards and Clayberg finished with 52 yards, and the Pella High defense held Chariton to negative yards in the first half. Pella is now 3 – 0 and moved into a tie with Oskaloosa at the top of the Class 3A District 8 standings. The Little Dutch come home next Friday for a home game with Norwalk.
