Playing like there was no tomorrow, Pella Christian took it to Colfax-Mingo last night, winning by a seemingly Eight-Man football score of 79 – 0. Seven different Eagles scored a touchdown, led by Carson Dugger who scored the first two and then added a 56-yard punt return for a score early in the second quarter. In addition to Dugger, Jacob Brouwer added a field goal, Dillon Branderhorst, Mason Howerzyl, Coltin Collins, Levi Jungling and Miles Wichhart all had rushing touchdowns, and Josh Posthuma had a pick six in the closing seconds of the game to cap off the scoring for Pella Christian. Howerzyl finished with 119 yards on ten carries, Wichhart rushed for 95, Jungling for 90 and Dugger for 82. The Eagles outgained the Tiger-Hawks 424 – 30, and even held Colfax-Mingo to negative yards in the first half. Pella Christian is at 2 – 3 in Class 1A District 7 and 4 – 4 overall. Des Moines Christian was defeated by Central Decatur last night, which gives the Eagles the fourth spot in the playoffs at the moment. Everything sets up beautifully for week nine; Pella Christian takes on Mount Ayr at home this Friday with a playoff spot up for grabs.
