Pella Christian lost just one match at the volleyball tournament in Knoxville on Saturday and finished second on the day. The Eagles started by toppling Grinnell, 21 – 13 and 21 – 16. Logan De Graaf registered eight kills and Becca Gritters had seven. Pella Christian won in three sets over ADM, losing game one 16 – 21, but winning the next two 22 – 20 and 15 – 13. Pella Christian won their pool with a victory over Perry, 21 – 13 and 21 – 12. Moving onto the championship game, the Eagles were able to beat Knoxville again, losing game one 24 – 26, winning games two and three 25 – 21 and 15 – 12. Gritters came up with eight kills and two ace serves, and Lauren Jungling had 17 assists. Unfortunately, the Eagles couldn’t overcome ADM in the finals, losing in straight sets 24 – 26 and 13 – 25. Pella Christian finishes the regular season 18 – 15 and will host Cardinal of Eldon in the first round of the regional tournament on Tuesday.
