This past week Knoxville City Manager Harold Stewart met with a number of business leaders in the community to discuss economic development and the possible re-creation of the KEDC, the Knoxville Economic Development Commission. Key economic development needs identified were the need for housing development, the creation of an industrial development park, possibly with a spec building, the development of the VA Campus, and quality of life amenities. The need to cultivate young community leaders was also discussed. Stewart tells KNIA and KRLS News that there was a great amount of positive discussion and momentum generated from this meeting, and that he believes that several positive courses of action will result.
