Other county impacts are less clear. Mike Kuhn, with Marion County Veterans Affairs and Public Relief, says he sees little impact so far, but his office could be impacted should the shutdown continue. Betty Moll, who administers programs at the Central Point of Coordination for the county, echos Kuhn’s comments–impacts will be felt if the shutdown is prolonged. Marion County Supervisor Jim Kingery tells KNIA/KRLS News that elderly nutrition programs should be in good shape for some time. Kingery adds that in the short term, the main impact of the shutdown has been on WIC. He expressed concern that if the shutdown continues for an extended period of time, county resources could be significantly impacted.
