Pella used a strong ground attack and solid defensive effort to beat Norwalk 30-10 last night. Big plays early on set the tone as Lukas Steenhoek scored on a 53-yard run and Quinton Murphy added a 45 yard run to give to give Pella the early edge. Norwalk’s only touchdown came in the fourth quarter on an 18-yard pass and with the Warriors driving again late in the game, the Little Dutch defense again slammed the door giving the ball back to Pella and Clayberg iced the game with his second touchdown. Coach Jay McKinstrey was pleased with their offensive effort but highlighted the play of the defense all night long. Pella racked up 366 total yards including 313 on the ground led by Clayberg with 148 yards and 2 touchdowns, Steenhoek added 90 yards and a touchdown and Quinton Murphy had 71 yards with a touchdown. Pella improved to 7-0 on the season and 4-0 in Class 3A District 8 and will travel to Oskaloosa Friday night, who’s also undefeated in district play to battle for the district championship.
