Their season and high school football careers coming to an end on Friday at the hands of Washington in the Class 3A state quarterfinals, the Pella High seniors were understandably emotional at the conclusion of the game. Some twelfth-graders such as Nathan Clayberg had played since they were just freshmen in 2010, the last year Pella went to The Dome. Coach Jay McKinstrey tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that the 16 seniors that will leave the program grew a lot from their first practice to their last game a few days ago. McKinstrey adds that those “young men” put a lot of time and work into getting better, even this past summer with the strength and condition program. Pella finished their season with a record of 11 – 1.
