The AFRAID or A Fast Ride Across Iowa In a Day group has announced the route for their May 17, 2014 event. The ride is in it’s third year, and the 264 mile trek will run south to north this year. It will start at the Missouri border and heading north through Fairfield, Washington, Kalona, Williamsburg, Van Horne, Urbana, Oelwein, Hawkeye, Calmar, and Cresco before ending at the Minnesota border. Leah Garland, who is involved with Bethany Christian Services, the benefactor of the money raised, says last year 10 riders made the ride across the state, and this year’s route zig zags a bit east and west to avoid higher traffic areas which would decrease the safety of the riders.
