Improving their win total by one from a year ago, the Pleasantville football team seemed like a more determined squad than they were in 2012, Coach Gabe Bakker’s first season. The Trojans scored 32 offensive touchdowns in 2013 as opposed to 20 last season. Most of that improvement came on the ground; Pleasantville gained 1,143 yards compared to 688 in 2012. Bakker says there are several positive things to take away from their 4 – 5 campaign this year. Pleasantville could have easily had a winning season, too. Their season-opening loss to Eddyville-Blakesburg came in overtime, a game where Pleasantville had a chance to win in the closing seconds of regulation. The Trojans lose ten seniors off of their 2013 team.
