A stingy defense and a powerful offense do battle this afternoon in Waverly, as the Central football team plays Wartburg in a big Iowa Conference match-up. Central had it all working last week in a 48 – 3 win over Loras, while the Knights dropped their first league game of the season to Coe, 24 – 10. Wartburg averages over 400 yards and 32 points per game, and are second in the league in rushing. Central leads the league in defense, both in terms of yards and points allowed, and in a game that many expect to be a close, low scoring affair, Dutch head coach Jeff McMartin says it’s important that his offense is smart with the football and doesn’t put the “D” in any difficult positions. You can hear today’s game live on 92.1 KRLS and streamed live at KNIAKRLS.com with Trevor Castle, Cory Houser and Justin Webster on the call. Pregame coverage starts at 12:40 p.m. with kick-off at one.
