Dismantling Des Moines North on Monday night 91 – 71, the Pella High girls’ basketball team was able to shake off any first game jitters they may have had going into that contest. Last year, Pella opened up against a very tough Ballard team and got beat pretty handily, but the Lady Dutch were able to rebound the rest of the season and hang tough with just about everyone they faced. When asked if he’d rather open up the schedule against a harder team like Ballard or a struggling team like they did on Monday with Des Moines North, Coach Jerod Garland said it depends on the team he has in front of him. Pella is off until Tuesday when they face Carlisle at home in a boys/girls doubleheader.
