They may look like a different team this year, but the Pella Christian girls’ basketball team is still keeping their goals the same for this season. They already have one win under their belt with a 59 – 48 victory over Martensdale – St. Mary’s on Friday, but before the season began, the team got together and talked about what they want to achieve by the end of the season. Eagles’ coach, Kevin Van Maanen says that the level of the bar hasn’t been changed from last year; his girls still want a conference championship and a trip to state. However, Van Maanen says the team is focused on “improving in the now” so they can get to a point where they could win a Little Hawkeye Conference title and a berth in the Class 2A state tournament. The 1 – 0 Eagles continue their regular season this Tuesday at home against Albia.
