Pella Christian had some bad luck towards the beginning of their district schedule this season. In weeks six and seven, they lost back-to-back contests with Ogden and Van Meter by a final score of 14 – 13. In both contests, the Eagles either had the lead or had a chance to take the lead in the fourth quarter. They lost to Ogden in the final 30 seconds when the Bulldogs scored a go-ahead touchdown on a fourth-and-goal situation; in their game with a top ten ranked Van Meter team, the Eagles scored what would be the tying score in the final two minutes, but decided to go for two to take the lead. The try failed, and the Van Meter Bulldogs held on to win. Coach Rich Kacmarynski says their drive in the first half that resulted in six points against Van Meter was their best of the season. Pella Christian went 86 yards on said drive but could not hold on. They finished with a 4 – 6 record.
